What meat companies aren't cruel to the animals (kill the animals humanely)?
Small farmers. Go to the farm and have a conversation with the farmer.
EDIT: you can buy certified organic, free range, grain fed meat at specialty supermarkets but you'll never know how the animals were killed or if they were treated humanely on their way to slaughter unless you talk to the farmer. but certified organic, free range, grain fed is your best option if you want to do minimal research. you could also talk to the butcher at the supermarket and see if he's visited the farm. a lot of the times they have (this is at specialty supermarkets only).
